The Order Process

Your first step is to tell us about your project on our contact page or call (719-473-5791).
At this point, you’ll talk to Shawn, our front office specialist, or Jenna, our owner and engraver. While you can get your general questions answered over the phone, the actual order will need to be completed via email. You’ll need to be ready with some information, such as:

  • What kind of item you need engraved. You may not know all of this information, and that’s okay. We’re happy to help you figure out what you need for your purposes. Did you find some great ideas on Pinterest or online? Did you see something on one of our social media posts that you loved? Feel free to send us those inspiration pics in an email! If you have a general idea (“I need a memorial plate for an outdoor surface,” or “I’m looking for gifts for high-level donors to our non-profit”) of what you need, then we can make recommendations for you!
  • We have over 15 years of experience in the industry, and are happy to make suggestions, and we really love it when customers tell us “we trust you to make me something beautiful!”
  • What you want your item(s) to say. Do you need a logo included? Need some fancy prose, plus some names included on metal plates? Need pictures or photos? Fantastic. We can help with all of those, and more!
  • Delivery date. Our turn around time varies, depending on the time of year and our current order load; it’s usually around two to three weeks (14 – 21 days), though. Make sure you allow plenty of time for us to get your order taken, get a proof done if needed, and make any changes that may need to be made.
  • Payment. We accept credit/debit cards and ACH. If you need to get a purchase order approved, we’re happy to give an estimate.
  • Orders need to be picked up within 30 days of completion. We only have a finite amount of storage space, and cannot hold your order indefinitely.

FAQs

Whether you know exactly what you want or not, the first step is to email the shop at via our contact page. If you know exactly what you want, that’s great! We may ask a few questions to clarify things, and we’ll get back to you with your invoice to approve, which will include the cost, and, if requested, a proof. Your delivery date will be confirmed once you make your payment.

We can engrave many types of metal, glass, acrylic, wood, and some plastics. If you have an item of your own you’d like to have engraved, but are not sure if your item is engravable, you can email a photo and specs to candatrophies@gmail.com, or visit our shop with your piece.

You can do either, however, not all artwork is engravable. You are welcome to provide your own artwork; we need high-quality images, and we can tell you the specifics about your item if you email us at candatrophies@gmail.com.

We accept .svg, .jpg and .png, though vector artwork (.svg) is preferred.
Yes, we can engrave company logos. We charge a one-time set up fee.

Yes, but it depends on what we’re engraving, and what method of engraving we’re using. If you’re wanting something a little larger than usual, your best bet is to email us or bring your item into the shop for a personalized quote. Even if we can’t engrave directly on your item, we can probably make some alternative suggestions!

That depends. Engraving a name on a piece of metal may take an hour. Engraving a mountain scene into a piece of wood, then painting the wood, engraving words into the wood, and applying gold leaf and metal accents may take over a week, when you account for things like paint drying and the time it takes to apply gold leaf.

We do offer rush orders; fees vary depending on the difficulty of the project.

We are often able to engrave on curved or irregularly shaped items, but it depends on the item. If you’re curious about a specific item, please feel free to email a photo and specs to candatrophies@gmail.com. It’s much easier for everyone (yes, including you) if you have a look at what we have in the shop before you buy something to be engraved; we know our items can be engraved. We’re not so sure about yours. If you order our items, we know exactly how they are going to perform in our machines, and can guarantee the results; we can’t always do that when you bring in your own merchandise.

Well, that depends. First off, we aren’t a chain store, so we don’t have a warehouse somewhere with hundreds of pieces just waiting to be engraved. We keep a limited number of our most popular pieces in stock. The more of a particular item you need, the earlier you need to order, so that we can order from our suppliers. However, this also applies to your own items that you need engraved. For some items, we can engrave more than one at a time; for others, we may only be able to engrave one at a time, and we may need to reset machines in between each run, so it could take a while to engrave each of your items. If you have a large order, we need to know as soon as possible.

It’s our goal that every order that goes out the door will exceed your expectations! If the SHOP has made an error of any kind, we will re-make the piece on the spot for free for in-person customers, or immediately ship a corrected piece for free for shipping-customers. If the CUSTOMER has made an error, we will fix it on the spot, also. However, we will charge for the replacement value of the metal in the case of plaques, or full-price for nametags.

It depends on what you’re having engraved. On items that we engrave using our Diamond engraver, you’re limited to about 25 fonts. But for sublimation and laser work, we can do just about anything, including engraving your favorite celebrity autograph or re-creating your grandma’s handwriting on a metal book plate for her recipes.

We rarely engrave personal items. We are happy to have a look at your items to see if we will be able to successfully engrave them, and can refer you to other engravers if needed.

All orders require payment at the time the order is placed, via credit/debit card or ACH.

We have a showroom full of samples, and we would love for you to visit our shop. This is a great opportunity for you to see how the items look, get a feel for the weight and quality of the products you are considering, and see a variety of other items that may do what you need. We can also send pictureds if you aren’t local.

Unfortunately, we do not offer this service at this time.

We are happy to ship bulk orders. Shipping prices vary, depending on the size, weight, and destination of the order. We are happy to give you an estimate when you place your order.
